We learn about ourselves and others by developing our personal, social and emotional skills:
- At circle time we spend time together talking about our feelings and emotions
- We risk assess activities that we would like to explore. Practitioners ask “how could we do that safely?”
- As we play we practice taking turns and playing in groups
- We have an ever-growing understanding of our own emotions and begin to attribute feelings to emotions
- Our personal preferences become more defined and we make choices for ourselves and also begin to understand that our preferred activities might not be the same as others
- We make rules together and adapt them if needed as we move through the academic year
- We gain confidence in sharing experiences with a wider group of people
- Practitioners support us in exploring different ways of resolving conflicts with others
